Sharing our Stories

We have been creating a variety of art pieces this term. These pieces are all about ourselves and sharing our stories. We have used different media like collage, watercolour, crayon and clay to create our art. We are beginning to make choices as artists. Each piece of art shares a little about us.

WALT: share our stories and ideas through art.
WALT: explore a variety of media and make choices about
how we want our finished piece to look

Success criteria: * our message is clear
* our art represents us
* we have tried different media
* we choose the media to create the
effect we want

I Think
My Buddy Thinks

my art represents me
yes my art represents me because some of my art look like me

she loves paint because i see her use the paint
Yassmine, you are a clever visual artist and you have created some beautiful pieces this term. I think that your art represents you, even when it doesn't look like you, it still shows parts of your personality and things that are important to you. You have experimented with all the different we have tried this term and you make choices as an artist about what you want to use and why. I am looking forward to seeing what else you can create this term.

WALT: ask questions as we read to make sure we understand what we read.

Remember we can question before we read…
What is this going to be about? What do I already know that will help me understand? what do I want to find out?
We can question as we read…
what does that mean? what is going to happen next? what else do I want to know?
We can question after we read…
does that make sense? what have I learned? have I answered my earlier questions? what else do I want to know?

    • I learned to: get better saying fat question's and skinny question's.
    • Most challenging was: getting my reading finished.
    • Next step is to: not look out the window when i am do my reading.
You are beginning to use questioning as a strategy to help you understand what you are reading. Prediction and questioning before you start to read can help you 'tune in' to the text so it is easier to understand.
Your next learning step is to remember to use fix up strategies and make sure you always understand what you read, reread parts if you need to.

Yassmine, you are a fabulous friend with a ready smile and great sense of humour. You look out for people both in and out of the classroom, helping when someone is hurt or sad. You are a great big buddy sharing your knowledge to help Bryah with her learning. You work well in a team and always try your best for example in team games like flags.

WALT: Learning to Learn

Success Criteria:
  • know what I am learning to do
  • I know what I need to to to get better
  • I plan activities that are going to help my learning
  • I follow my plan
  • use my learning time wisely (complete my activities on time)
We are on the path to becoming self directed learners in Adventure 9. This means we are beginning to make choices that help us grow as learners. We know what we are learning and what we need to do to get better.

We plan our week choosing activities that are going to help us reach our goals. We plan all the must do’s and then add the can do’s.

I think
My Buddy thinks
I know what I am learning
sometimes i know what i am learning because i do not listen sometimes
sometimes she know’s what she is learning
I know what I need to do to get better
i need to get better at paying attention and faceing the front
most of the time
I plan activities that are going to help my learning
i plan thing’s that help my learning
yes most of the time and she follow’s them
I follow my plan

yes i do follow my plan
most of the time
I use my learning time wisely
sometimes i learn wisely and sometimes i do not listen
sometimes most of the time
Yassmine, what a fabulous honest reflection. This shows me you really know yourself as a learner and know what you have to do to grow. You plan your learning time including the must dos and can dos and you usually follow your plan. You need to make sure you know what you are learning and how the activities you are choosing are going to help you as a learner.
